Week 5-I'm Back

Welp I'm back. The infectious diseases module kind of took over my life and the stress was not pretty. Since most of my days start at 8 or 8:30, I almost always see the sunrise. I was on my way to lecture at 7:45 Thursday to see this sunrise.

The End of Block exam for infectious disease was Wednesday which means on to the next module, musculoskeletal system, which no surprise, I already have a quiz for it. On the bright side only two days worth of material, but in pharmacy two days of material means two weeks. I am already enjoying this module a lot more since it is more relatable...after all I love Naproxen. I take it for everything pain related because for some reason even though my stomach is sensitive to food, naproxen doesn't even upset my stomach a little (for most people it can be very harsh on the stomach).

Care plans are always fun. I usually enjoy care plans...not this one. In summary, it was about a gout patient who very very poorly was managing his symptoms due to his lifestyle choices. The max number of pages allowed for a care plan is 6 page; I really struggled to get it down to the maximum...not because I am an overachiever but there was actaully so much information and justifications for the treatment it seemed almost impossible. I did this care plan in the span of 5 hours on Friday in a condo in Big White while Stefano was snow boarding. For me, care plans are one of those things that you have to write in one sitting since you have this continuous train of thought when in comes to drug therapy.

Got on a plane Thursday night to Kelowna to visit Stefano for the weekend. If you didn't already know I have 3 day weekends every week except for maybe once a month. And this week I did not have lab until the afternoon. Most of our time was spent studying, but that's what we do best.

Surprise, surprise went to Bean Scene two days in a row. This is my favorite place to study, and it has been for the past 4 years.

Of course, can't leave Kelowna without brunch at Bohemian Café. They make the most AMAZING French toast...I apologize for the picture quality as it was super dark in there.

I would say that 80% of my skin care routine is from Lush. This week I finally went and traded in my black pots. Lush is great where if you take in 5 clean black pots any size to recycle you get a free fresh face mask (which is currently sitting in my fridge). I have never used a fresh face mask before but I am definitely a sucker for face masks. This one is so fun cause it's bright blue so you look like a Smurf.

I am proud to say that I actually make it to the gym once a week, which is progress. Travis Scott has been my obsession for doing circuit training. Yes, I use different playlists for different workouts (i.e. cardio vs. circuits).

Gym Routine (if I stick to it...)

Warm up 15-20 minutes jog or intervals (depends on my mood)

1. 4 min warm up walk

2. 2 min jog

3. 1 min sprint

4. 30 sec rest

5. 2 min jog....and REPEAT...end with 3-4 minutes walk/cool down

*since I don't get to the gym much I always do a full body routine every time... not ideal but better than nothing

Circuit x3

weight knee ups with step x15 each side

squat and press with free weights x30

tricep dips with step and feet on bosu x15

bridge press with bosu (+ chest press on up) x15

single leg bridge press x15 each leg

face pulls with cable machine (use rope attachment and slightly squat back)

Core/Ab Burnout x3

alternating toe touches (sit all the way up) x12 each side

stability ball knee ins x15-20

side hip twists x12 each side

side-to-side v crunches x12 each side

plank shoulder taps x12 each side

Ever since January I started buying Trader Joe's coffee to make in my French press instead of buying Starbucks…when you're not a barista, the amount of money you spend is actually insane. Bittersweet since Starbucks sent me an email saying I would lose my gold status next month cause I have only made a total of two purchases this month. Welp, everything has to come to end.

Music Wrap-up for the month of January
